The project compromises the assessment of the involvement of citizens in the environmental decision-making process in the Guria region and assessing the citizens’ access of information on environmental issues.

The objectives of the project are:

  • Monitoring of public hearings for environmental decisions in three communities of Chokhatauri Municipality
  • Assessing citizens’ awareness of environmental decisions, identifying  and documenting the gaps and problematic issues
  • Advocating for recommendations to improve the gaps identified in the environmental decision-making process

Within the framework of the project, quantitative research will be carried out, through which the attitude of the population of the target villages of Chokhatauri Municipality towards environmental issues will be studied. The project will monitor the public hearings on environmental issues, and deliver a monitoring report and recommendations.

The project is implemented with the support of the Georgian Center for Strategic Research and Development (CSRDG) within the project “Civil Society Development Initiative” (2017-2020). The project was implemented by a consortium led by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The project is funded by the Eur8opean Union and co-funded by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS).
