The project actively worked in the municipalities of Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri in the direction of increasing the transparency and the accountability of the municipal bodies.

The objectives of the project were:

  • Institutional strengthening of target municipalities by creating a sustainable mechanism for pro-active publication of administrative costs and other public information.
  • Institutional support for the work of the Civil Advisory Council in Chokhatauri municipality
  • Organization of public meetings with municipal council members in 12 villages in order to increase the accountability of Chokhatauri municipality council members
  • Conducting public meetings and trainings on self-government budgetary and monitoring issues for citizens in the target municipalities.

Within the framework of the project trainings for municipality representatives and citizens were conducted, materials for citizens about administrative expenses were published, training for the Chokhatauri civil advisory board was provided and public hearings of council members in 12 villages of Chokhatauri municipality were monitored.

 

The project was funded by the The Center for Training and Consultation (CTC) and within the framework of the project “Civil Society Initiative” (STAR Initiative) funded by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation
